Аннотация

Русский мыслитель, историк и философ Г.П. Федотов в работе «Россия и свобода» представил свою концепцию политического развития страны со времен Древней Руси до 1940-х годов как борьбу элиты с неограниченной властью. В контексте идей Г.П. Федотова автор статьи предпринял попытку показать события политической истории России XVII века – периода, когда аристократическая элита имела шансы взять власть и закрепить свое положение, освободившись от потенциально опасной и неограниченной законом воли московского самодержца. Автор отмечает, что впервые идея ограничения русской монархии возникла еще после правления Ивана Грозного, но не смогла тогда реализоваться на практике. Период царствования Михаила Федоровича (1613–1645) стал временем фактического правления придворной аристократии. Но только с 1640 г. начинаются реальные шаги в сторону того, чтобы закрепить свободу высшей знати юридически. В 1642 г. в Москве было решено выдать замуж царевну Ирину на датском принце Вальдемаре и, вероятно, посадить его на царский трон или использовать в качестве противовеса царевичу Алексею на готовящихся выборах нового правителя России. Очевидно элита стремилась ограничить власть царя. Однако эта попытка оказалась безуспешной. Ирину не удалось выдать замуж, а Алексей Михайлович в конечном итоге занял московский престол. Затем в 1648 г. на волне нового политического кризиса аристократия вновь пыталась взять власть в свои руки, но на этот раз массовые народные волнения не позволили этого сделать. Русское общество высказалось в поддержку сильной царской власти. В итоге автор приходит к выводу, что исход борьбы царя и элиты был предопределен: русский народ не позволил бы аристократии получить политическую свободу и контроль над высшей властью.
